oh - and I have a new job
You all may have been wondering why I haven’t been posting very much lately. Well, things were just in so much flux. In fact, Sam (the Mr.) had a little stress seminar at work about a month ago, where they evaluted a number of factors to see if you have a tendency for stress.
Let’s see … he pretty much hit them all (and so would I)
- planning a wedding
- changed residences/started living together (end of January)
- expecting a child
- change in work routine (Sam changed shifts at work, I started a new job at my same place)
- new addition to household (Sam’s daughter will live with us for two months)
- child moving away (Sam’s daughter will move to Arizona in June after school is out; her mom is moving in April)
At least we don’t have any problems in the bedroom (one of the questions on the survey - he said he was glad to be able to say “no problems there” to at least one of them!)
Yeah, so we have a lot going on. Someone asked me the other day if we were going to do any prenatal classes; I said I am taking one thing at a time — wedding first, then more baby things. Of course we’re going to the baby doctor regularly, but just no classes yet.
Except for the fact that I’m changing jobs RIGHT NOW, my new job is pretty cool. I moved to the development department, which is where I’ve always wanted to work — now we have a development department in Chicago, so the first job that was good for me, I applied for. It’s just a little unfortunate that I have so much change to manage in such a short period of time.

As to the prenatal classes, with Woody, we waited until too late and ended up taking a class that was geared towards home-birthers. I was thankful to not have them teach me how to pant, and I came away with a very firm belief that circumcision is just silly, but other than that, I could have saved the money and spent it on those little hats that they grow out of within a month. I think birthing class is an antiquated notion, but it’s a great place to meet other women who are in your same situation, if you like that kind of thing.
