nightmare at the ticket counter

I had a nightmare last night.

The last time I was in Germany for work, my coworker Christine and I were traveling together. On the way home, the ticket agent gave us our passports back to the wrong person - I had Christine’s, she had mine. We didn’t know this as we were going through security, and we were at the booth at the same time. Her guy asked her how was the visit, in German. She looked at him, like, what are you talking about? This was her first time visiting. My guy asked me in English if I liked Germany - I said of course, I’ve been here a bunch! We joked with each other and the guards about our business travel. They stamped our passports and let us through. Later, our other coworker and I were comparing passport stamps, and I realized I had Christine’s passport! I ran over to her and we were all shocked at the terrible security of the German security guards. [In retrospect, they might have realized we switched and just put us through anyway…]

But still It’s disturbing. I’m on my way to Jerusalem for work, and last night I had a nightmare that I showed up at the ticket counter with my coworker Kathryn’s passport. I have this feeling that in addition to being a constant ticket checker, I’m going to become a constant passport checker as well.
