every weekend this summer
If it’s a free weekend this summer, I must be out there digging away at the lawn, hauling wood chips around in my Fit, buying/filling terra cotta pots and balcony boxes, planting grass, and pulling weeds.
If I were a picture taker, let me tell you I’d be posting some nice pics of the hastas and hydrageas, the basil and the parsley, and the newly-sprouted grass. And there would be a nice before and after of the newly turned over, weed-free, and now weed-fabric protected sunny plot in which next spring we will plant our tomatoes, and probably basil too. You’d also see, in the picture that will probably never be taken, next to this sunny weed-free spot, our composter in which we make dirt out of common kitchen scraps.
And my inside plants are thriving as well - I can barely go to a friend’s house these days without asking if I can just take a little bit of that plant there so I can bring it home and try to grow it myself. It usually works - even with African Violets! Ok, only two of about ten tries sprouted, but two sprouted! Amazing! I’m running out of surfaces in the sun, I’ll have to start giving some plants away, or make a trip to Ikea for some plant stands or something.
It’s so completely satisfying to watch things grow.

I think you’ve been bitten by the gardening bug, just like Lisa and I!! I totally get what you’re saying! How is the goldfish plant we gave you doing? Did it sprout any goldfish for you?
