the ddr competition

So last Christmas, my twelve-year-old niece got DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) for Christmas.  We played all day on Christmas day.  Then my mom got my other twelve-year-old niece a copy for her birthday in January - I was up there for that birthday celebration, and played all day with her as well.  She also got one for my nephew in February.  So when we were all together this last week for fourth of july, we played again.

FYI DDR is a video game that can be played on a variety of game formats, like xbox or sony playstation.  The game controller is a mat on the floor and to win you put your feet on up, down, left or right in tune to the music and in the order the screen says — sometimes very quickly depending on the level you choose.

Since this is a game that 12-year-old girls tend to play at all of their sleepovers, between the time that my two nieces got their games and the beginning of July, they had practiced a whole bunch more than me.  I still did ok, passing the difficult level (just barely), but they clearly were better at this.

So my mom got me one for my birthday, early, while she was out shopping with my two nieces.  It’s home now, set up, working on my big Sony TV.   Next time we get together, I am totally going to be competitive. They’re going down.
